Security
Security in a blockchain covers several distinct concerns that together protect the integrity of the chain and its ability to keep working. Resilience against failure, block security, resistance to attacks, and the handling of faults all play a decisive role.
Security is the second trilemma axis. BlockchainBench measures it through the cost of mounting an attack, the system’s tolerance to random and byzantine faults, its reliability over an observation period, and the rate at which propagated blocks fail to be finalized. The individual formulas are documented in Metrics.
